Vijaya Rural Development Foundation (VRDF) was promoted by Vijaya Bank in the year 1990 as a voluntary organization registered under Karnataka Societies Act 1990.
 
The Foundation was promoted with an objective of
  • promoting Rural Development by creating awareness on Modern/scientific agricultural practices
  • conducting extension activities, Seminars/workshops
  • introducing  new agricultural tools and equipments
  • arranging exposure visits and field demonstrations etc
 
The foundation also aims at assisting the rural folk by way of providing basic amenities like health, education, adult literacy, medical check ups and scholarships to poor meritorious students and also provides self-employment opportunities by arranging training and skill up gradation programmes.
 
The foundation at present is actively functioning in the Districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kasaragode, Dharwad, Haveri and Mandya Districts of Karnataka. Efforts are made by the Foundation to extend the activities to other districts of Karnataka also.
 
MEMBERSHIP
  • Any citizen of India who has completed 18 years of age is eligible to become a member of the Foundation on the terms prescribed by the Governing Council.
  • Any corporate body, association, firm or any other body having legal entity is also eligible to become a member of the VRDF on the terms prescribed by the Governing Council.
VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT COUNCILS
The Village Development Councils are organized by VRDF in the service area villages of the sponsor, Vijaya Bank and plays a major role in carrying out various activities of VRDF. These are participative forums wherein the villagers themselves actively involve in planning for the betterment of the village. VRDF has organized 18 Village Development Councils in D.K., Udupi, Kasargod, Dharwad and Haveri Districts.
 
GOVERNING COUNCIL
 
A 15 member Governing Council with Vijaya Bank’s Chairman and Managing Director as Ex-Officio President, General Manager of Credit Priority Dept. (H.O.) Regional Managers of Udupi and Mangalore and Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation along with other 10 elected members forms the Governing Council which meets at quarterly intervals to review the functioning of VRDF and provide necessary guidance to the foundation
