Subsequent to RBI policy of “Free access to ATMs of banks”, coming into the effect from April 01, 2009 we have been receiving many queries related to ATM operations. Therefore, for the purpose of customer awareness, some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) covering all important queries related to ATM operations has been prepared by Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

Vijaya Global Debit Cum ATM Card

Vijaya Global Debit Cum ATM Card is the VISA International Debit Card issued by our Bank to its account holders for using it at Merchant Establishments and at Automated Teller Machines (ATMs).

The Vijaya Global Debit cum ATM card has been launched in association with VISA International.
The Vijaya Global Debit cum ATM card can be used at all Vijaya Bank ATMs. It can also be used in networked VISA ATMs of any Bank in India and abroad. The card has wide acceptability – over 2,49,000 merchant establishments in India and 25.17 million globally.

The salient features of Vijaya Global Debit cum ATM Card are as follows:

Eligibility Criteria

The Vijaya Global Debit cum ATM card will be issued to all adult individuals, joint account holders & NRE account holders maintaining operative Savings Bank/Current accounts at our branches with satisfactory operations.

 Type of customers Eligibility criteria
a) Individuals GlobalAll adult Individuals maintaining an operative Savings Bank account (including NRE accounts) or Current account with satisfactory operations with any one of our branches.

In case of current accounts in the name of proprietor ship concerns, the debit cards will be issued in the personal name of the proprietor.

b) Joint accounts
For joint accounts with operation by any one or survivors, debit card can be issued to any one or more or all the joint account holders who are authorized to operate the account individually.

Where the debit cards have to be issued for joint account holders, apart from the applicant’s signature the signature of the other joint account holders should be obtained on the debit card application.

Vijaya Global Debit cum ATM Card is valid for use at our Bank’s ATMs, other Bank’s VISA ATMs and merchant establishments in India and abroad. Vijaya Global Debit cum ATM Card is not valid for payment in foreign exchange at merchant establishments in India, Nepal & Bhutan.

Vijaya Global Debit cum ATM card is valid up to the last working day of the month indicated on the card.
The validity of the card shall be five years from the last day of the month in which the card is issued.

The Vijaya Global Debit cum ATM Card will be renewed on expiry of 10 years. Debit card is allowed for usage in Internet for websites where Verified by VISA authentication is mandatory. The guidelines for using the debit card in internet is enclosed below:

Transaction charges

As per RBI, t he number of free transactions permitted at other bank's ATMs per month is restricted to 5 transactions for Savings Bank account holders from July 1, 2011. It includes both financial & non financial transactions . This means that the first 5 transactions at other bank ATMs (including both financial & non financial) will be free. Transaction from the sixth one will be charged @ Rs 20/- plus S.T for cash withdrawal and Rs 8/- for non financial transaction (Balance enquiry/Mini statement).

Surcharge 2.50% or Rs.10/- whichever is higher on transactions at Railways/Petrol Pumps
Charges for request for copy of chargeslip 
i) for transactions at our merchants Rs 100/-
ii) for transactions at other banks merchants Actuals with a minimum of Rs.100/-

Note: In addition to above, service tax, if applicable at applicable rates will also be charged. Fees/charges/limits indicated here are as prevalent currently and are subject to revision by the bank from time to time.
For debit card usage abroad, a mark up of 2.5% over and above the transaction amount is loaded to take care of the currency fluctuation.
